Sony Ericsson Xperia X1
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 arc-slider phone, first announced at GSMA World Congress 2008 held in Barcelona in February, is the first windows mobile device with interactive panel interface from the company
Whereas previous Sony Ericsson smartphones which used the Symbian mobile operation system, the Xperia X1 is the very first handset from Sony Ericsson that run Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system. The launch of the XPERIA line marks the debut of Windows Mobile on the company’s devices.
The X1 does look suitably expensive — boasting a well-constructed brushed metal chassis and a curved Qwerty keyboard concealed by a three-inch WVGA screen.
One of the unique selling points of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is the X Panel — a fun graphical interface with seven customisable onscreen panels, more of which can be downloaded if you want. The panels are neatly arranged in a grid, giving you multiple entry points to the applications in your phone. For example, the Radio panel turns the phone into a portable FM music machine and if you play with the Google panel, then, it will give you easy access to multiple Google services such as Maps, Mail, Calendar and Photos
Unfortunately, the easy navigation and usefulness of the X Panel comes with a small price of sluggishness. It takes a few seconds for each panel to open and close,
Where navigation and input options concern, it’s hard to find fault with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. Among its many options is a four-way button that doubles as an optical trackpad. You can simply move your finger on the button and you are able to scroll through various applications and click to select an application. The trackpad is very handy when used in conjunction with the keyboard. Also included is a stylus which is a very wise decision from Sony Ericsson, due to the fact that it is also impossible to make an accurate selection of the tiny onscreen options with your digits.
The keys on the gently bowed keyboard are flat, but, well-spaced and big. As there are no dedicated number keys, you have to press the function key to access numbers.
When entertainment concerned, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is more than competent. Equipped with a 3.2-megapixel auto-focus camera with excellent photo light, it is able to take videos at 30 frames per second. On top of that, the 800×480-pixel screen displays stills and videos nicely, even in bright sunlight. Other multimedia features which are expected include the Windows Media Player Mobile, Bluetooth A2DP stereo support, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
If you are keen on surfing internet on the Xperia X1, you will be glad to know that you have two choice of Web browsers for selection, the Internet Explorer Mobile or Opera 9.5. The Xperia X1 supports WiFi connectivity.
Bundled with a 4GB microSD memory card, the Xperia X1 is a well-built phone and certainly, it is a nice gadget to delight consumers.
Sony Ericsson W580i
Sony Ericsson W580i is a slider phone from the Walkman family series. Measuring 99 x 47 x 14mm and weighs a light 94 grams, this handset comes with a very large color display that is visible in both its slide open and slide closed positions. With 262,000 color TFT screen and a high resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, the W580i offers a very soothing and nice viewing experience.
With the younger audience as targeted consumer, the Sony Erickson W580i equipped with a 2 megapixel camera completing with 4 x digital zoom. With features like video streaming, video player and picture blogging which is getting popular, the W580i mobile phones has nice and quality functionality that will certainly entice the younger generation user.

When comparing to other Sony Erickson model, the W580i looks pretty much same as the Sony Ericsson S500i. However, the S500i is primarily a fashion solution and features much lesser capabilities when comparing to the Sony Erison W580i.
As a walkman phones, the media features of the W580i is definitely wonderful. It is powered by the latest Walkman media player v2.0; with other walkman features that you will like such as the TrackID, TrueBass and Graphic Equalizer. However, the internal memory of the W580i mobile phone is a big letdown. As a music phone, a mere 12MB internal memory is clearly insufficient. Luckily, the phone do supports Memory Stick Micro M2 for memory expansion and the phone package also comes with a free 512MB external memory card that you can use.
Other standard phone features that you would expected to have are mostly available on the W580i, such as the preload Java games, organizer, calculator etc
For connectivity, Sony Ericsson W580i is enriched with a Quad Band technology and features multiple connectivity options like EDGE, USB, Bluetooth, Fast Port, GPRS, Modem and PC synchronization. Surfing the internet is not a problem, with the device being equipped with features like Access NetFront Web browser and RSS Feeds.
The Sony Ericsson W580i walkman phone is powered by a Li-Po 900 mAh standard battery. The battery has up to 9 hours of talk time and 370 hours of standby time.
